Recycled Floor Mats: Unique Aboriginal Designs by Garry Purchase
When I first came across recycled floor mats, I was impressed and happy to share such a practical and environmentally friendly product.
Admittedly it took me some time to locate a supplier who was producing recycled mats of high quality, allowing them to stand the test of time. The durability and finishing on the edges have meant that customers have felt very satisfied with their purchase.
Then I started to think about the product more. What about the Indigenous children and families? How would they relate to the current designs? I have always had a keen interest in wanting a diverse product range that people from all backgrounds can relate to. Enter Aborginal artist Garry Purchase! Garry is an Indigenous Australian whose bloodline stems from the Dunghutti people from Kempsey region on the mid north coast of NSW. He was raised in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney amongst the Aboriginal community at La Perouse and currently resides on the Central Coast with his family.
I contacted Garry as I wanted to contract an Aboriginal artist to create unique and authentic designs. We hit it off immediately as Garry shared my enthusiasm for the project.
I was asked to do two designs for Leslie Mariani who owns the company Leave it to Leslie which supplies unique resources to the child care industry. My two designs ” Starry Night ” and “Snake ” will be used on the mats that Leslie produces.
Here now, I have a number of striking Aborignal designs created by Garry to choose from in our exclusive range of Aboriginal recycled mats. But the mats are not restricted to Aboriginal families or centres alone. I truly believe we should all celebrate one of the oldest cultures on the earth and be proud of our Aboriginal communities and artists. Order your own beautifully designed recycled mat and share the cultural richness!
Thank you Garry, I could not have done this without you or your talent!
