Felt is an unwoven fabric which gets it property due to entanglement of fibres with each other. It is produced by matting, condensing and pressing woolen fibres. It is made by the process called wet felting where the natural wool fibres, stimulated by friction (which is produced by vigorous rubbing of the fabric) and lubricated by moisture (usually soapy water). The heat produced from friction allows the unidirectional scales on the material to be strongly locked together. Finally, applying pressure transforms fine fabric into felt.
