Large Plastic Stag Beetle

Most adult Stag Beetle species don’t eat much – just a very rare treat of nectar, sap or young tree shoots. Many types of Stag Beetle don’t eat anything at all once they hatch as adults. Some male Stag Beetles can live for two summer seasons. Stag beetles is a family of about 1,200 species of beetles in the family Lucanidae, currently classified in four subfamilies. Some species grow to over 12 centimetres, but most to about 5 cm.
